Andrea Williams - Christian Concern

The meeting of the WLRBF in January was addressed by Andrea Williams, of the organisation “Christian Concern”. The theme of the meeting was the threat to traditional Christian values in the way that children are taught at schools about family life and relationships, and sexual issues from a very early age. The teaching they receive is contrary to the teaching of the Bible, on which stable, loving Christian families are centred. Andrea pointed out the difficulties which many Christian parents have experienced.

The ministry of Christian Concern is to support those who suffer discrimination for their Christian faith, and to encourage those who are working to minimise the effect of secularism in British society. Andrea gave updates on several of the cases which Christian Concern are currently supporting. Some of these involve Christians being marginalised, or even dismissed from their employment for taking a stand regarding moral or religious issues. The cost of fighting some of these situations through the courts is enormous, and in one instance the Crown Prosecution Service took over a case and then dropped it, with the original complainant being required to pay the huge legal costs.

As well as the subject being presented, the meeting was, as usual, a great opportunity to meet fellow Christians from other local churches, and to find out what has been happening in some of the many evangelical churches around this part of Lancashire
