We believe that the whole of the family should be present for at least a part of our worship services
and we usually include a children's talk as a part of the morning service to encourage their
participation. However, we recognise that most children benefit from teaching tailored to their
age and ability and so we provide a Sunday School during the second half of the morning worship
for children of primary school age. The children leave the service during the hymn prior to the
sermon and go into the Sunday school. Two classes are provided, one for 3 to 7 year olds and the other
for the 7 to 11 year olds.
The teaching format of each class is straight forward, with the main emphasis on teaching the Bible
story. This is backed up with an activity/colouring sheet for the younger group and with puzzles
and worksheets for the older children.
A creche is available during morning and evening services for parents to take babies and small
children at any time if they become unsettled. The service is relayed to speakers in the creche so
that parents can benefit from listening to the service. During the morning service, the creche
is manned and parents are encouraged to take babies and small children out to the creche when
the children go out to Sunday school. Parents can leave their children with the helpers and
rejoin the service confident that they can be called to the creche if their child becomes
distressed.
